“Who will speak for you if you can’t speak for yourself?”

A lot of people think advance planning about health care is only for those who are very sick or very old.  But that’s not the case at all.  A durable power of attorney for health care is absolutely vital for every adult – young or old, healthy or sick, disabled or able-bodied. We have fire insurance as protection even though our house may never burn down.  Shouldn’t we also have a durable power of attorney for health care as protection even though we may never be unable to make health care decisions for ourselves?
