A doctor-prescribed suicide bill (LB 450), the “Patient Choice at End of Life Act,” was introduced in January 2017.  It failed to pass in 2017 .  It was carried over to 2018.  No action was taken on the bill.

A person commits assisting suicide when, with intent to assist another person in committing suicide,
he aids and abets him in committing or attempting to commit suicide.

Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha filed a motion Monday to pull his aid-in-dying bill out of a legislative committee where it remains stuck. The motion won only nine of the needed 25 votes to bring the bill to the floor for debate.
