A bill to permit prescribed suicide, titled “An Act relating to individual-directed care at the end of life” (HB 506), has been introduced in Kentucky. The bill would permit an attending health care provider ( a physician, an advanced practice registered nurse or a physician assistant) to prescribe the lethal drugs for the patient to self-administer.

For the first time a doctor-prescribed suicide bill, called the “Kentucky Death with Dignity Act” (HB 224), was introduced in Kentucky. The bill did not pass.
